2017 started strong for California exports

One of the business ties a California business can have to China is exporting goods to that country. Many things can have a big impact on California businesses that have a good amount of their business directed towards exports to China. One is how they handle any legal disputes that come up for them in China during the course of their export operations. What ends up happening with such disputes could have impacts on a California exporter’s business prospects in China in the short term and the long term. So, a business may want knowledgeable legal guidance when such disputes arise.

Another thing that can have impacts on California companies that have a lot of export business to China is how the overall export market for California goods is. A Beacon Economics analysis of trade data indicates that California exports had a strong performance in 2017’s first month.

According to this analysis, $13.27 billion worth of goods were exported from California in January 2017. This represents an increase over the January 2016 export total for the state, which was $11.96 billion.

Well over half of California’s January 2017 export total came from manufactured goods. Such goods made up $8.64 billion of the state’s exports for that month. However, non-manufactured goods had a larger year-over-year increase in exports that month. Non-manufactured goods saw an increase of nearly 25 percent from the January 2016 total. The increase for manufactured goods came in at around 10.5 percent.

One wonders what the rest of 2017 will be like for California exports and what kind of year 2017 will be for California exporters who focus on the Chinese market.
